Fortunately Queen Aretha was paid very well during the 60s because she learned from her family and real agents about promoters who would run off with the artist salary, this is why Queen Aretha always carried her bag, purse on stage, she was paid full cash in advance or no show .a lot of Motown Artist got short changed because of lack of education about the business, Queen Aretha learned at 14 when her first LP came out as a teen .

Could have listened to over an hour about this pioneer! His accomplishments, especially during the time he made them, are astonishing! I'm sure he was a tough business man and, like most, looked out for the business over the individuals. That is the business world in which he had to navigate as well. I'm sorry, but there is NO WAY a groundbreaking, highly successful record company like MOTOWN should have been sold or a measely 65 million dollars!!!
