England's Hidden Jurassic Park Beach in Devon! 🏖️ (UK Travel)

Показать описание
Come with us as we find England's hidden Jurassic Park Beach in North Devon! This place was truly a UK hidden gem and we expected it to be so busy when we visited on a bank holiday, but hardly anyone was there!
We jumped in the car and drove through nearby Porlock village and up the steepest A road in England, Porlock Hill. We took a wrong turn so instead of going the faster route closer to the coast we ended up on a (mainly single track) road all the way through the centre of Exmoor National Park. Whilst this took us a little longer, we were rewarded with views of cute bridges, highland cows and even a herd of deer running through the low clouds shrouding the moors.
We made it back to the boundary of Exmoor National Park and parked up in Watermouth, where we paid £7 to park for the day and refuelled with a coffee and snack in the Storm in a Teacup Cafe. ☕️ After flying the drone and finishing our food, we headed out on the 15(ish) minute walk to the beach we were really excited to see, Broadsands Beach (not to be confused with the Broadsands Beach in South Devon near Paignton!).
We walked briefly on the road before turning off towards the coastal path, heading through a campsite with glorious sea views and a PPB (perfectly-placed bench) where we had our first view of Broadsands Beach. WOW! It was an uphill climb for a few minutes followed by a wooded walk along the path flanked by fragrant wild garlic. 🧄
A few hundred metres further along we turned off the path and were about to start the descent down 200+ steps when we noticed a sign warning us of adders! 🐍 With our eyes peeled, we made our way down carefully and were greeted with the incredible Broadsands Beach, which felt like we were in a Jurassic Park set! What's even more - although it was a bank holiday, there were hardly any other people there so it felt like a private beach. Winning!
After a few hours sunbathing, paddling, waving at tour boats and exploring, the tide came in and clouds blew over so we decided it was time to head back and go for dinner somewhere. A family we had met on the beach lived in nearby Combe Martin and recommended a chippy there, so we drove the five minutes and grabbed fish and chips to have on the beach as the sun went down.
A truly great day!
