[LIVE HD] Singapore Budget 2021: Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat speaks in Parliament on Feb 16

DPM and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat announced a Household Support Package in during Budget 2021 on Tuesday (Feb 16), an S$11-billion COVID-19 resilience package and a hike in petrol duty rates. He also said an impending GST hike will take place between 2022 and 2025.

Very sayang sayang budget - thank you, and appreciated.
BUT (at least as reported in media) lacks "future" depth in terms of a strategy / ambition for making singapore a machine intensive, niche manufacturing hub AND to retain / keep manufacturers in Singapore. Covid has proven clearly that manufacturing will help lend critical mass of materials to support the Singapore logistics hub, airport and seaport capacity. During covid - "all" entrepot goods flows via Singapore "stopped" - leaving Singapore high and dry. A previous announcement of 50% growth in 10 years is a good start but lack ambition. urgency and desperation - a 30% in 3 years would be a challenging but serious goal for Singapore. With the OECD CBCR tax reporting this is critical for Singapore also to move away from the "trader" margin tax trap to be a manufacturer as well. We need to increase our tax base

missing a sustainable energy security strategy to replace natural gas

missing steps to make SGX / financial markets competitive in the light of challenges to our financial hub status when market cap of other ASEAN exchanges hubs are poised to overtake in terms of offerings.

Why is Mr Heng only give the GST Voucher to people earning less or equal to $28000 annually Is it earning more than $28000 annually no need to pay for GST? If people earn more, the power of spending will if course increase. Thus this is a good new to the encomy for Singapore, so eventually it will also help to provide job for other as the shop or company are earning. Do Mr Heng want people to earn less to eligible for the GST Voucher? I doubt so, right? So Mr Heng had already classified as the give out is a GST Voucher, So every Singaporean should entitled to the benefits. As everybody staying in Singapore are contributing to the GST. Are the Government serious in SG united? I doubt so, say say only. Please refer to LHL pets.
