Over the last few months, we’ve been getting drips and drops of new information about the world, characters and nations of the avatar universe through brand new canon source books. One of the biggest and most intriguiging of thse new characters, was a member of the fire nation royal family, who actually became an air nomad. Sozin’s sister. And today she finally has an official appearance in Avatar Canon… So hit that subscribe button if you haven’t already and lets get into who princess Zeisan of the Fire nation is, and what she now looks like!
Host: Zeisan was born without firebending and had to prove her worthiness against her brother Sozin throughout their childhood. To survive her family, she devoted herself to Air Nomad training under Sister Rioshon, learning many skills, including chi-blocking. Despite falling in love with Rioshon, their love went unvoiced as both women understood that there were greater things at stake than their own happiness.
Following Sozin's coronation, Zeisan announced her intention to marry Khandro, a popular Air Nomad philosopher and leader of a renegade group called the Guiding Wind. By proposing a political marriage, she sought to renounce her titles and wealth, which inspired other young nobles to do the same. Zeisan saw the Guiding Wind as a tool to undermine her brother's rule, as they both had much to gain by working together.
Host: Zeisan shared her brother's intensity but was focused on dismantling her family's corruption. Although she doubted her own ability to be good, she was ambitious and determined to undermine Sozin's rule. Zeisan was willing to use political backstabbing to achieve her goals, even if it went against Air Nomad ideals.
