One of the ships of the Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet, or as we call it the Mothball Fleet is towed on the Carquinez Strait near Crockett on Thursday April, 15, 2010. The ships are being pulled out one by one for cleaning in San Francisco and then shipped to Texas for recycling.

I remember those ships from my childhood in the early 60s. Im kinda sad to see them go.

That's a P2 troop ship. I rode those as an Armybrat 1950s-60s. 3 times across the Pacific and 2 times across the Atlantic.

Looks almost like USS Sperry, a submarine tender, that I was stationed on 1976-80. The Sperry ended up there in 1983 and I see pics of the Sperry tied up there on the Internet.
