Global politics, security concerns weigh on Paris Olympics

Tokyo 2020 was held under the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic, but Paris 2024 is taking place in a more deeply divided world, amid ongoing conflicts, big-power rivalry and geopolitical cybersecurity risks. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has long sought to cast the Games as a platform for peace and neutrality, but some say the Olympics are inextricably linked to global politics and tension. 200 doping tests in 10 days: China's swim team staff cries foul over increased testing before Paris Olympics
Each athlete was tested an average of five to seven times since arriving in France for the Games.

A drunk Australian female tourist asked a clerk at a barbecue restaurant in the local tourist hotspot (Boulevard de Clichy) for help at 5 a.m. on the 20th, claiming that she was gang-raped by five men.

According to reports, the female victim’s clothes were inside-out and torn. After the police arrived at the scene, they sent her to the nearby Bichat-Claude Bernard Hospital. They said that they were using forensic techniques to investigate, and that they were temporarily investigating. No arrests were made.
