I build my first grow box from an office cabinet which I got for free. But it had stealth in mind. I just need a sensor to shut off the fans with someone nosy is in the room.

My initial plan was to but a cheap 4x2x6 grow tent, throw away the frame and put the cover on a 4x2x6 set of shelves to make a propagation tent. Had them in the basket ready to click and buy. I then spent £60 more to get the Secret Jardin DP120 Dark Propagator as it had the same layout as my idea plus the cover was guaranteed to fit the shelves without any cutting or restitching needed and without the headaches that would have caused.

me personally tents are just not set up for rotation type grows. I built my own and separate germs, veg, and flower/harvest. I like my stuff organized and there is too much unused space in them not to mention too many outdoor factors to worry about if you dont have a closet with it. Idk maybe I’ll upgrade but I dont see a reason to at the moment.

So like what's wrong with a cardboard box with a survival blanket spray glued to the inside and slapping a little computer fan on it

Great video. Do these work outside during Winter? Or are they not insulated enough for something like that? Northeast Winter in Northern Jersey.

Great vid! This is what I had to do to see if a tent was worth it. When I did the math and found that a tent, twice the size cost the same as diy plan, I was sold.

Why not 1 plant grow with a trashcan and some mylar 🤔
Keep in mind you'll need an intake fab for fresh air on the bottom. Exhaust on the top.. with a filter. Any holes made need to be air tight for proper ventilation..

This is my plan for my next grow.
Secure your light and filter to the top.

So really the issue is material costs and the materials themselves aren't really designed for this. But if someone was to create a lego-like company (but for adults) where you have flexi-lengths, like tent poles, plus a bunch of joints (2 way, 3 way and 4 way), easy wrap around material, etc....you'd have yourself an industry. PVC is ridiculously expensive for a frame: great for hydroponic not for a frame. But bamboo chute is very cheap ($10 for 6 foot pieces x 6). Reflexic and maylar is exprensive...tin foil not as much...so really people need to start manufacturing things to suit the demand. Grow tents are specifically designed to avoid the mold issues of marijuana, but if you are just growing veggies, you don't need a charcoal filter and a grow tent...you need almost as good. So yes: marijuana growers buy a grow tent...everyone else construct one.

Something to think about, a lot of ppl might want to do DIY for a growbox not to save money, but for reasons related to aesthetics or specific size considerations.

The lights. Fans, charcoal filters, exhaust fans, lighting timers, heaters, temperature controller, humidity sensor and monitor, humidity controller, humidifier. This is the parts that cost the most money

I made my own secret grow box. 1f x 1f x 3f.
It cost a lot more than any grow tent but a tent isn’t so discreet.
Silent computer fans.
Just getting ready for my 3rd grow.

Lights fans are usually the most expensive part
