Great video! We rob our kids of growth when they lack opportunities to develop responsibility. Responsibility can be that magic ingredient that gives our kids self confidence and a sense of mastery!! Well done! - your friendly neighborhood child psychiatrist

As a kid, parents should ALWAYS involve their kids in family changes, so that they can enjoy it, and feel included in the group.

Edit: I’ve never gotten this much feedback! Thanks!

If Elle is reading this I was wondering if you could give us an update on Connie’s family as it has been a few years since the last one. I would really love to know how the kids look and how much they have grown and changed over the years. Thank you❤️❤️

Great addition to when your kids are older, teach them how to do their taxes!! I was never taught this in school.

It’s interesting how (might be wrong) that Americans can’t do chores or cook from a young age but as a British person you can make balanced meals at a young age and some parents even let there 2 year olds go out most parents start going out with an older sibling but I’ve seen groups of 5-14 year olds playing outside with no parent my mum would never have allowed that from personal experience I could make 3 balanced meals from 6+ depending on the food everyone is different but I found it funny how different areas make a difference to a child’s childhood

A suggestion for a skill: Learning how to solder and using a multimeter! It’s really fun, you can buy simple kits and get a new toy out of it. A very basic understanding of electronics is required but that is often taught in these kits, too.
A very safe and useful application of soldering is fixing broken headphones.
I was taught when I was about 12. I think that was age appropriate, to give you a reference.

These things are best taught at home! Schools can't do everything! 💕

This is such an important thing to do! I worked at a psych/addiction rehab center for extremely wealthy young adults that had zero life skills. They were handed everything by their well meaning but usually absent parents. Kids need the feeling of accomplishment that comes from completing even the simplest task on their own. As they get older, I would include how to budget and grocery shop, open a checking account, etc. Building self-esteem like this gives them tools that will make a huge difference in their future.
