Joint National Task Force–Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict XIII Meeting

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte presides over the Joint Meeting of the National Task Force – Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-RTF-ELCAC) at the Caraga Administrative Region in Butuan City on April 12, 2022.

During the course of the meeting, the President leads the ceremonial awarding of the Task Force’s flagship projects to various beneficiaries that include Former Rebels (FRs) and members of the Indigenous Peoples (IP) in Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur.

The meeting also highlights Caraga’s sustained gains against the New People’s Army (NPA) as the Region is historically considered to be among the hotbeds of communist terrorism in the country.

On 4 December 2018, the President issued Executive Order (EO) No. 70 that created the NTF-ELCAC and institutionalized a whole-of-nation approach towards obtaining sustainable peace in the hopes of putting an end to more than five (5) decades of local communist insurgency.
