DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer - GBU-54 Laser-JDAM

In this DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer video, we’ll look at the GBU-54 laser-JDAM. The GBU-54 is 500-pound class bomb with options for INS/GPS and laser-homing guidance. It can be loaded on all 1760 smart racks.

While INS/GPS allows you to launch-and-leave and the ability to engage through cloud and smoke cover, the laser-guidance provides increased accuracy and the ability to engage moving targets. It’s up to you to determine the best guidance based on the engagement.

It's hard to believe it's been nearly 10 years to the day (Oct 4, 2010) since the original A-10C module was released in "Beta". I just re-watched one of my videos from the Beta days.

So these work like I thought they would. They will fly to your SPI until you fire the laser, at which point it will prioritize the laser. Looks like a very useful and versatile weapon!

I would like to see classic Cold War warrior A-10A as full fidelity module some day. A lot simpler but still fully realistic.

EDIT: so it looks like that the -54 will default to INS/GPS but the laser seekerhead is always active and as soon as it sees a laser, the laser overrides the GPS target?

Since we're getting these shiny new toys to play with on A-10C, will we also receive them for other platforms such as F/A-18C Hornet or F-16C Viper ?

It's such a mission flexible munition. There's almost no need to carry 12s or 38s anymore unless you're going for a conflict or mission specific loadout, or if you feel like beep-bopping with 12s on the TERs.

I have the A-10C and it came with mappings built in for the Thrustmaster HOTAS throttle quadrant and stick, plus it had built in mappings for the Thrustmaster pedals. For some reason with the A-10CII all those mappings are gone. I copied the mappings from the A-10C and they worked for the most part, but curious why ED didn't include the built in mappings for that model like they did for the predecessor.
