My grandfather was in 18 BSF he told me once that, their unit was helping mukti vahini giving them funds and arms to fight pakistan army and giving or providing food for Bangladeshi citizens even long before war started and it is not officially spoken by government of India.

Without India's help Bangladesh would have met the same fate as Balochistan where independence insurgencies have been going on since 1947...it was crushed time and again through massacres, genocide.

For me pakistan and Bangladesh are not different . Right now our relations with Bangladesh is normal but we will never trust Bangladesh and Pakistan both are same

I agree. A civilian militia group can't stand against a full fledge army unless it is supported with arms and ammunitions from another country. In this case without indian army, Bangladeshi Mukti bahini would have been crushed by Pakistani army like what they are doing in balochistan right now.

Currently watching from Bangladesh but its also true that India benefited from Bangladesh becoming an country because of the kasmir issue, to probably weaken pakistan, to have a sort of friendly neighboring country and other political issues. Indeed we are grateful to them for helping us get Independence although they also gained from it.

Problem of Afghanis is "Us laam" and not Talibs per se. If they believe in Us laam and want democracy at the same time, it is like playing cricket match, with magnetic bars as wickets and iron shell as ball. Of course they can play, and make people believe that this is Cricket (democracy), but magnet (Us laam) will not leave its properties. But it is also true that without india, there would be no Bangladesh! MuktiBahini would be destroyed by Pak Hanadar Bahini if India didn't help them.

Hi Ab, yes you are right. Pakistan actually surrendered to end the war. But, I am puzzled why India didn't finish the job then, by re-taking Pakistan? Pakistan didn't have the bomb yet at that time.
