Fear of flying is a common occurrence for many people, but having your pilot scared while flying a plane is something else. Pilots have certain advantages to reduce their fears of flight and I explain my biggest fear while flying.

I really appreciate it when pilots give us passengers updates. It's so reassuring to hear your calm voices regardless of the situation. For me, I hate not knowing what's going on and not having control of my own circumstances. The feeling of relying on two people who I don't know while being in a flying tube terrifies me.

I’m terrified of flying. A bit part of that is claustrophobia. Being stuck in a small enclosed space, being unable to leave or get off, and jammed right next to a hundred other people is an absolute nightmare for me.

I was an anxious flier - only because I was not in control and my life was in someone else's hands. I know about the physics of planes and atmospheric profiles - so I knew when light turbulence would happen just by looking at the clouds. Since researching Lancasters (my grandfather was a flight officer and crashed one on take-off - without any injuries) and after listening to your channel as well as Captain Joe's channel, I actually enjoy flying. Although I still have no control, I know exactly what the pilot will be doing at each stage of the flight. Thank you.

Turbulence makes me nervous because even though I know about turbulence (thanks to some great videos on YouTube) I don't know what is causing "this particular" turbulence we are in right now. And I am trapped in a seat way way way behind the "driver, " who I can't see at all, and I can't ask him (or her) a question to know what is going on. I just trust that the pilots know what they are doing. And I really love it when the pilot makes even a very brief announcement about the turbulence -- it is very courteous and it helps me feel as if I am being informed as to what is going on and I feel better when the pilot says he is doing is best to find smooth air.

I once had a pilot make an announcement saying “we are not going to make it” he never finished his thought. He meant to say is “we are not going to make it to our airport due to weather” everyone was terrified for a good 5 mins before he corrected his announcement. 😂😂😂

The whole flight is torture for me every single time. I’m deathly afraid of crashing.. I’m educated on how the mechanics work etc but it’s still a fear of mine

I get scared when I fly with family and know that if something goes wrong, there's almost nothing I can do for them and it's all in a stranger's hands... driving is more dangerous, but at least I have control of the automobile.

The scariest thing I've ever experienced was a sudden attitude drop, it felt similar to the first drop on a huge roller coaster. It felt like slight negative Gs like I was lifting out of my chair for a second.
