I had a double long spring underneath some leaves, it was nearing the end of the season, and i was brushing the leaves away to find it and it went off on my middle finger, and crushed my finger nail into 2 pieces. It didnt hurt at first because of the adrenaline, but soon started to throb. Luckily I could get out by standing on the arms...




Always pay attention when trapping, and dont take your traps for granted

YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN ME TRYING TO GET OUT OF A NO, 3 DOUBLE LONG SPRING WHEN I WAS ABOUT 14.  I WAS MAKING A TRAIL SET IN 2 FEET OF SNOW.  THE TRAP WAS ALREADY TIED DOWN WHEN IT WENT OFF CATCHING BOTH OF MY THUMBS.   THE REALLY BAD NEWS WAS THAT I HAD ON SNOW SHOES THAT USED A TIED DOWN TYPE OF HARNESS.  TRYING TO UNTIE THE HARNESS WITH BOTH THUMBS IN THE TRAP WAS NOT EASY.   I KNOW THIS SOUNDS LIKE A JOKE BUT IT REALLY HAPPENED TO ME BACK IN 1959 IN NOTHERN WISCONSIN.

thanks for the tip Dan of course you left out the medical after extracting your hand then you get to set your hand because of the damage to your hand from the trap
