A horrible mistake it was for Israel to hand Bethlehem to the Palestinians in 1995 as part of the Oslo agreement. It is an ancient Jewish town mentioned in the Bible, the birth place of King David, and Jesus. Jews would have kept it better. As they do with every other religions site in Israel.
Muslims made a lot of the Christians who used to live there, leave. Before 1995, 40% of Bethlehem residents were Christians, and now, 3%-4%. I would call it "ethnical cleansing." But the world is overlooking everything Palestinians do, cause it doesn't fit the narrative, while blaming Israel for everything Palestinians are guilty of.
