7 week old German Shepherd RESCUE PUPPIES swimming lesson with mum Lucy

Mum Lucy the German Shepherd’s most favourite thing to do at the farm is swim. When we let her out of her maternity suite in the morning she races to the gate that leads to swim time and paces until she gets let through. Every day she gets to swim here at the farm, which must give her so much relief after having 7 litters in as many years from a life of backyard breeding.

So it’s no surprise that her puppies are already at 7 weeks old fairly good swimmers for their age. We want them to be confident swimmers and love the water just like their mum. Swimming is such a great exercise for dogs, but water confidence can often hold dogs back from enjoying it as much as others dogs that have had the early experience.

The puppies did really well and will soon have no trouble going for swims with mum in the pools or the dam.
