Using IKEA OLOV as Support Legs for Large Custom Desks

In this video I show you how I use height adjustable IKEA OLOV legs as additional support legs for my large custom built desk using IKEA Products.

Note that IKEA ADIL legs are less expensive, but have a fixed height (the same height as alex drawers if you're wondering). If you have a divider or a non-standard height desk, the OLOV can adjust from 23⅝ to 35⅜ inches.

If you have a very wide desk like me, over time the desktop can warp without support legs. If you have a lot of weight on the middle of the desk (such as two or three center mounted monitors and a computer) the warping is accelerated.

I was looking for a good set up for an extra long computer desk that I could share with one other person. Your videos were perfectly informative! Thanks!

Watching these during the pandemic as I will be working from home for the next few months. Thank you so much for this! I had actually ordered the same three pieces and was wondering if I would need center support.

Hi,
Good video which give me some confidence on product.
One doubt - Is it ok to use OLOV legs for solid wood? and On top of it 24 inch monitor and other stuffs.
Is it really that much tough one?

My cheap Ikea Linnmon taple top is caving in from the monitor mount and I'm looking to buy a stronger table top but keeping my olov legs, how thick does the the table top need to be for the olov legs mount screws?

How secure are those legs in the extended position? I have this fear that they will just suddenly slip down :D

Would these work as the only legs for a desktop? Like 4 in the corners. I'm worried about stability especially with a dual monitor arm setup.

Did you drill any pilot holes for the screws or just screw them straight into the desk? I have a wooden countertop and im worried it might crack overtime

these high enough for a desk thinking 4 of these and a kitchen worktop easy pc desk

question, I noticed in your other video you drilled pilot holes for the capita legs but, on the OLOV it doesn't look like you did, I have some OLOV's I need to install on an Eckbaken counter top and was wondering if I needed the pilot holes.

I have a question with the olov legs. If i were to get the 2m linmon tabletop and 5 olov legs, wouldn’t it wobble a lot because i wouldn’t be able to get the exact height or is there a trick when adjusting height?

I am thinking about making this for a laundry room. Do you think with the support legs it would hold multiple baskets full of clothes?

How does it hold up since the Olov legs are set back and not exact in the center of the desk ?

Can I use it as 4 main legs for a big (lets say 30" x 70") table top?

Do you need anchors for the screws if you’re screwing these into a piece of light wood?

Hi I do not need to predrill the table right? I can just put the screw on my driller and make it go in?

what are those little tiny legs? I am trying to do something similar where I use a file cabinet as one side of the "legs".

This may be a stupid question but when i order an olov leg from ikea does it only come with the 1 leg, do I have to change the quantity to 8 if I want 8 legs?
