In Norway a friendship takes a very long time to build because friends are serious business here. If you get a norwegian friend, it's for life and 100%, almost like family. Norwegians form friendships up to high-school that they keep for life. If they go to college or uni, they form friendships there too. After school they mostly get aquaintances. So if you don't get norwegian friends it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with the culture.

I'm Norwegian, and your list is spot on. And your B-roll being from Norway and not generic is also very good.
Norway is not a place for everyone.

Unstable weather? Oh yes.
I love going to bed after a sunny September evening and waking up to the sound of the snow ploughs removing 10 cm of snow from the roads. Or going out with a small boat to do a little fishing on a calm day, flat seas and no cloud to see ... just to go in after twenty minutes because you see a storm coming with the force to level trees.

About job safety, it's not only for the benefit of the employees. It's good for the employers too because training new staff can be very expensive.

DHL Express in Norway is one of the easier places to get jobs in Norway, because everything is 90% in English. Norwegian is rarely used at DHL in Norway because it's a global company. On top of it, speaking English gives you a big advantage there, but you need a 100% clean record at the police.
Norway always have lots of jobs where they struggle to find people for, because Norwegians don't want them.
Also. If you are a doctor, you would still get a job quickly.

Almost all people here in norway speak english. But yes you have a point about you will be less competitive in the job market if you can't speak norwegian

Norway is not one of the best countries in the world to live in if you are a foreigner. The language is really important. Culture (and religion) is also important, if you don´t share most of the values in this country, it will be difficult (unless you choose to live in a more ghetto-like area possibly). Already there are too many immigrants who have neither the education nor the jobskills needed for work in this country. Since claiming to be an asylum seeker is a popular way into Europe instead of through a job for example, it too often ends with the immigrant becoming a dependant on the welfare system (meaning the tax payers have to pay for your existence). Unless you have relevant education or job experience, moving to a high cost, high tech country might not be such a great idea.

I like that even the cons lead to pros for me anyways. Not too bad thanks for the information.

My best friends in Norway today is 5 people is from children school in 1980's, and 3 friends from 2000's.
so yes, i somehow managed to get 3 close friends last 20 years. It happened naturally the lazy way as it can take years before you know they are actually close friends that is still always there. We just don't speak every week, but i i speak weekly with childhood friends. lol
As mentioned here. It may take a long time to get trust in Norway, but also because of stressed society. Most people don't want too many friends here.
With the right chemistry you can quickly become friends in Norway at any age too of course. Also. Like everywhere else, there is lonely people in Norway too with barely any friends at all.

Well one point you go over for my view.. if you are moving to another country you should learn their language. If ive decided to move to tokyo i would do everything to learn Japanese. its just a must and a polite thing to do.

It's sad to hear about your point on loneliness, I just wanted to tell you, that I hope you don't mistake the Norwegian ''respect of others right to privacy" so to speak, as ''unfriendliness''. I can understand though, I have heard many people say this, but I just want to tell you.. Norwegians are ''reserved'' not because they dont want to be friendly towards you, but just because they respect others right to privacy so much, that they don't want to be of bother. We are also weird about our public transports too in this way.. We try to avoid speaking, or sitting next to anyone on the bus. If you see a bus in Norway, people are always sitting with 1 seat open between each other.
