SUMMARY:
- Before you put a new empty bag inside the can, clean it well, because the can itself accumulates smells that stick around.
- Use dryer sheets as a deodorant. Place them in shoe closets, musty areas, trash cans, and gym bags.
- Another tip with dryer sheets that works like magic – put a few of them behind the vents in every room.
- To chase away bacteria that accumulates in the carpet and get rid of urine smells, rub the carpet with a vinegar and water mix with a cloth, and then rinse it well with water.
- Your favorite sneakers can make the whole closet stink, but that’s no reason to throw them away. Instead, try sprinkling baking soda inside them and leave it overnight.
- Tie some strong fragrant herbs like lemon balm, thyme or rosemary in the far corner of the shower to keep them away from water.
- Another obvious stinky source is the toilet. Vinegar will help you combat that. Pour one cup inside, and spray the seat and the outsides with it as well.
- To keep your garbage disposal from smelling like total trash, drop a sliced lemon, lime or an orange in it when it’s running.
- Your fridge accumulates all sorts of smells from the food inside. Baking soda, with its unique chemical properties, will help to absorb them and make it smell neutral.
- Stuff a nylon stocking with coffee grounds and keep it in the back of the fridge for a natural deodorizing effect.
- To fix the odor problems in your ice box, swipe it on the inside with a cotton ball soaked in vanilla extract.
- To make your kitchen, or the entire house, smell like a citrus garden, use orange peels! Dry them overnight, then boil 5 or 6 of them in a pot of water with the lid off for a couple of hours.
- To make the microwave smell like new with basically no effort, drop a sponge or rag you use to do the dishes soaked in dishwasher inside and turn it on for about 5 minutes.
- Activated charcoal will help you solve the stinky kitty litter problem. It’s naturally great at absorbing odors, especially those produced by pets.

I worked in a hospital and one of my good friend was a microbiologist. He said the reason why your shoes/sneakers stink is because of the microbes that lives in your shoes giving off the foul smelling odors. He demonstrated this by swabing between my toes with a q-tip and placed it in an incubator dish and told me to come back in 24 hours. When i came back, he opened the dish and asked me to sniff, I almost passed out! The cure to killing the microbes was to place the shoes in the freezer for two days. They can not survive the cold temps. Bingo! No more smell from the shoes!!

I love vinegar and baking soda....i use it for everything. It's what we used before the cleaning product era and they are non-toxic.

Don't inhale dryer sheets, so don't put them in anything that ventilates, coz they contain higly toxic ingredients.
And when putting baking soda in your shoes, put the soda in a sock and then in your shoes. Much easier and reusable.

Take orange peels and soak them in a jar full of white vinegar. This needs to be soaked for four days. Then, the infused vinegar can be added to a spray bottle, mixed with water and used as a multi surface cleaner. It also removes odors as it cleans

I was at work, I burned my food in microwave and smell like the depths of hells foot locker. So I grabbed the orange peel that was in the trash and light the peel in blaze and smells so much better here now.
Thank You for teaching about the firey goodness of Orange Peels.

When I changed over from a top loading washing machine to a front loader, I was told to wipe down the door and rubber gasket when I did my last load for the day. What they didn’t mention is that the dispenser that holds the detergent, softener, and bleach can harbor mold and mildew if air doesn’t circulate in the crevice. The first time I removed it I was shocked to see black mold- not a lot- on the bottom of the drawer and deeper into the machine. After cleaning it thoroughly and disinfecting the cavity, I now push a little release button that lets me remove the drawer and empty the water left in the cups into the sink. Then I take an old small towel and dry where the drawer is. Finally, I leave the dispenser drawer out to dry until my next laundry day. You don’t have to do this after every wash, only after the last one for the day. My drawer comes apart in different sections. Take them apart to dry. Most people do their very best to keep a clean house and clean clothes. I hope this helps anyone else who was unaware of the problem. I only discovered this because whenI began to watch my new granddaughter last year, I volunteered to do laundry when she napped. I noticed my daughter-in-law had the dispenser drawer on the top of the washing machine. When I asked why, she said there was always a little water collected in the cups after a wash so she wanted to dry it out. I was curious and when I got home I checked out my washer and I had the same problem. We all learn from each other.

I’ve used the scented powder you can sprinkle on your carpets before you vacuum to freshen my whole house. What I do is either pour some in the vacuum bag or if you have a bag less vacuum just sprinkle some in the canister that hold all the dirt. Once you turn the vacuum on it releases the smell all through the rooms your cleaning without having to put it all over your carpets.

For the washer, run a cycle with a gallon of white vinegar instead of bleach, if you want. It works too.

I keep a box of kitchen matches in my bathroom. Anytime someone does their "business", just strike a match & let it burn for a few seconds & POOF the smell of poo is gone 👍🏼

Sprinkle baking soda on carpet before vacuuming absorbs odors, even some oils, spills in carpet. Pine pellets instead of kitty litter. Baking makes the house smell so good, put an apple in microwave sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar..easy peesy.. and dessert too. If you do all these in that order, then vacuum you give the soda time to work.
