Interstellar is a 2014 sci-fi film directed by Christopher Nolan, known for its complex narrative, stunning visuals, and emotional depth. The story is set in a future where Earth is facing ecological collapse, and humanity is struggling to survive. A team of astronauts, led by former pilot Cooper, is sent on a mission through a wormhole near Saturn in search of a new habitable planet.

The movie explores themes of love, time, sacrifice, and survival, with a particular focus on the relationship between Cooper and his daughter, Murph. As the astronauts travel through space, they encounter various challenges, including the intense effects of relativity.

One of the planets they visit is Miller's Planet, a water-covered world located near a supermassive black hole named Gargantua. The planet's proximity to the black hole causes extreme time dilation, where time moves much slower than it does on Earth. For every hour spent on Miller's Planet, seven years pass on Earth. This time dilation is visually and audibly represented in the movie through the ticking sound in the background, with each tick marking the passing of a day on Earth. The scene on Miller's Planet is tense, as the astronauts must race against time, knowing that every minute lost could mean years gone by for their loved ones back home.

I've heard that the scene was actually filmed on Earth.

I don’t know what freaked me out more; the crazy tidal waves or that boxy rectangular walking robot.

Interstellar and tenet are two movies that are ahead of their times. Christopher Nolan and his brother and his entire creative team are one of the best in the business.

They went from walking in knee deep water, to a mountain high wave, crashing down on them. Awesome movie.

There was so much about this scene that creeped me out, and a big deal of it wasn't something intangible, like that time dilation. It made me imagine that if such a mission were to happen for real, the ridiculous amount of planning that would have to go into it to minimize the time there.

The robot was cool, but somewhat creepy. The tidal wave was terrifying. This is a great movie. I hesitate to watch it again because I am getting older and it's getting increasingly tougher to sit all the way through really long movies. But I really enjoyed this. For anyone curious, its actually free right now on YouTube as of now - November 2024.

This movie is just layers upon layers of information. Years after release we are still learning from it.

One of my favorite things about interstellar, it's it's lack of music, now that obviously doesn't mean it doesn't have it, as it does, it's just very sparing with it and done b
Very well. The ticking clock sound on almost every song in the soundtrack also ads a lot to the pieces when their played.
