I love the Bandai Star Wars model kits. I love building them, I love playing with them as action figures afterwards. BB-8 wasn't the most exciting pick, especially since it comes with the same R2-D2 we got last year, but it was fun to put together.

I just built these a few days ago. I sprayed both silver trees with Yestorsbsilver thinned with lacquer thinner. It dries quickly and looks perfect. For BB8 I matt coated the orange parts and on R2 the blue parts. After I did a wash with Nuln Oil from Citadel and a little pigment dirt. The bases got matt coated and some debris then I taped off some yellow caution lines of my own desig. I painted them by stippling the brush striaght down. A couple coats and then a wash of Agrax Earthshade from Citadel. A little drybrush of silve to add even more interest. These are super kits.

Hello, I have got both the R2-D2s and have to say, even though they look the same, the new R2`s white part are brighter, and the blue more glossy. Great review, I have bought a few Bandai kits just because of your reviews.

New to modeling, they are called by bandi overg as te or undergat. Instructions are the same for all r2 kits, c 3po instructions are given for the 0-0-0 protocol kit. You will used to it, also use a file for better surface then clipping. If you decal before you build spray a clear flat 24 hours after decal then let dry, will protect decals

I was holding off on the R2/R5 model kit because I've been trying to limit my purchases to "main characters", the Fetts, and Troopers, so I think I'll end up getting this one. Thanks Fwoosh!

The seam on the left side of his head is where a panel line is on the puppet but the one on his right is not, which is a bummer. I filled mine because I painted the entire kit.

The other arm is the "cattle prod" that he attacks Finn with when they confront him on Jakku.

I find the Google translate phone app helps with japanese text, you can take a photo of the text and it will translate it for you.

I already have the black series BB-8, and the R2D2 and R5 model kit, so if I got this, I would just be paying all that money for BB-8's thumbs up lighter... but I think it's worth it!!! Lol
The rolling feature is really cool too...

Black Series is my favorite that I have seen so far. I'd really like it if they released a standalone version with a magnetic head attachment but the figure that comes with Rey looks great.

Gotta get this sometime, although like you I do wish it came by itself because I would like the R5-D4/R2 set. I have Black Series R2 and would like more astromechs of that size with opening panels and tool arms.

I think you should paint the R2 pink because that was the color of Poes replacement droid while BB-8 was away from Poe

Already have the black series bb-8 and now I've got this coming any day now. I'll probably just display this one with an attachment. These things are pretty addicting cause they're just plain fun to build and I enjoy painting them too. Had a blast weathering my sandtrooper and I'll probably do something similar for this. I wonder how phasma and kylo ren will turn out? Phasma is supposed to come with a molded cape and a cloth cape, so that's cool for options.

at min 13:20 we see two models of bb-8. on the left the Namco version..but how can i find the right printed version which is more similar to the movie?
