I made icons and tiles back in the early 90's 1990/91/92. No internet. I had to put them onto a floppy disk and post them to game companies. Only 1 responded. And that was to thank me for sending the disk and they will keep my details on file. I never heard back from them.

Hey, thanks for your video. I would like to make 2D game assets as well and "What do people need?" is my biggest question.
Maybe your hand drawn icon pack didn't sell well because it's not as easy to edit as pixelart ones, and also it doesn't fit in any game style? I imagine people will buy assets as taking shortcuts in their own game development and edit them to fit their game needs just right?

The successful assets on itchio are not passive income. They update them often even have their own discord servers to get feedback and suggestions for their packs. They continue to add more content.
