This week it's the 1977 Shadow Crime Fighter Detection Belt from Madison Industries. A curious bit of merchandise for a character that kid's weren't probably all that aware of at the time. Still glad it exists though.

You can see more Shadow Merchandise like at the PlaidStallions Gallery of Shadow Toys:

I have a feeling the licensing of The Shadow at that time might have something to do with the brief popularity of old time radio programs on tape in the late 70’s/early 80’s. Also, the DC comic series had run a couple of years before this also, so maybe that had something to do with it as well. I had that plane as a kid (and still might), but I broke it trying to get the Shadow “figure” out of the cockpit... only to discover it was only a torso and head, hah.

I love this stuff
the shadow had a radio show pulp books that got remade in the 70 maybe and a toy line from a movie in the 90s maybe the books were around or a comic

I remember having the plane and the copter back then. Never saw the belt though. I'm happy to say that even then I knew who the shadow was and you and I are basically the same age Brick. (11/20/1970) I knew partially through my father who used to say the lines from the radio show. "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men...etc." I would've loved to have had that belt. Too bad I never saw it until now.
