When you get a new board those edges are nice and sharp. Sometimes you might not want them sharp. Matt helps you decide when and where detuning might help you and how to do it.

Thank you so much Matt! I really like the explanation of the "why's" in addition to the the demonstrations of the techniques. It helps when deciding where to start and stop the detuning. This is the most thorough video I have found on this topic!

I have watched like 15 videos on how/when/why tune or detune and this is hands down the best! Now I need a good what angle for what experience and ride type video.

Just got my first New board, a Burton Custom (camber). I've had some say to don't detune anything and ride it first, while others say do the tip/tail (I'm an all mountain rider).
What's your suggestion?

Hey, Matt... How do I find out what my board's sharpening angle is? Specifically m 23 Ride Shadowban... Can't tell if it's 90 / 88 ? Ha... Just don't want to run a 90 on it if it indeed should be another angle. Any ideas where I should look to find that exact degree? Ha, I've feels like Ive searched everywhere

Hey Matt! great explanation! i just got a bataleon disaster+ which is gonna be used for small local hills here, so small/medium jumps and rubber/metal boxes, tubes and rails.
Was hoping to make some serious rail progress while still being able to jump.
But considering the 3bt and elevated contactpoints - is detuning this board gonna absolutely kill me on harder corduroy days?

Hey Matt, I’m on the lower to mid end of intermediate and I’ve just bought a capita indoor survival. I saw some tips online saying to detune the “end of the side cut into the nose/tail” to help with reducing edge catching, would this involve just detuning the nose/tail or also part of the contact point leading to the nose/tail. Any advice would be great :)
