I could go on forever about how messed up the US health care is. Lived my entire life disabled and it’s an extreme financial burden, not to mention jobs not wanting to hire me because of those same conditions.

I'm a US Canadian dual citizen. Every now and then I think about moving to the states. Then I watch stories like this and that thought goes away real quick.

Selfishness and greed are not seen as virtues in most other countries. The US is almost unique in its embrace of normalized, systemized corruption.

I am from Germany. Many of my friends, myself included, always dreamed to live in the US when we were young because of all the movies about the great aspects of America. But since we are now older and have more knowledge, none of us would live there or let our children grow up there, not only because of the Medicare system, but also because of education, gunviolence, a broken justice system etc... I would only live there if I had a lot of money and a bodyguard.

Alex's mom was a colleague of mine. It was heartbreaking. She lost her son because he couldn't afford medicine to keep him alive. It only took a month of him "rationing" what supply he had before he died.

I'm a single mom and I have "good" insurance as a state employee. But, I have to choose whether or not to get a surgery I really need, or hold off because I need to help my daughter start her first year in college. I have to help my daughter, but I also want to stay healthy so I can be with her and watch her succeed. 😞 We shouldn't have to make choices like this. 😥

The delusion that America is the "Greatest Country on Earth" is quickly washing away....

I was shocked when I read that one American paid insurance of over $600 a month but still had copays and a bill of $8000 in medical bills. 30% of personal bankruptcies are due to medical bills. A trillion dollars in medical bills a year goes to collection agencies. Many Americans don’t get prescriptions filled or follow up care and get sicker. Healthcare? What healthcare?

Let me tell you. So many Americans would not consider paying into the health care system because they think they should not pay for someone else's care. THIS iS the problem: selfishness.

That officially supports getting rid of it - no Canadian politician who wants to get reelected will publicly come out against public health care.

If a hospital charged me almost $40 to hold my own baby that I just birthed myself, that's not the only charge I'm catching that day.

My parents didn't have a good marriage, my mother had breast cancer twice, so she stayed in that bad marriage to keep her insurance.
I used to listen to them argue and wish they could just get divorced
