Generative fill... for video!

things are about to get crazy...

Here we use Adobe photoshop generative fill to enhance and expand video footage. I imagine that Adobe firefly will continue to improve and this will be worked into premiere pro, after effects, and davinci resolve and other softwares will start to implement their own versions. AI is wild right now and will continue to improve and help us create things we aren’t even considering right now.

The thing I like about Generative Fill is that it uses licensed Adobe stock and not stolen images the way Midjourney etc use. Btw, great idea.

Before diving into video, my background was in photo editing and Photoshop specifically. The advancements that Photoshop has made in recent years in the generative fill have made it much more user-friendly. I have been using this trick for years to help fix any spots in a video that may be unwanted as long as the lighting is consistent and the subject is not moving toward the overlayed images. Great video!

I think this is a major improvement especially for compositers. Because now you can just generate plates in case you forgot to shoot them. So you'll always have material to work with. Pretty cool tbh, because I'm usually very underwhelmed by the implementation of real use cases of ai.

I used a technique like this the other day on some client interview work. The only room available in their offices had grubby parts of the wall and some wall power outlets that couldn’t be framed out of the shot due to the room being so small.

I saved out a frame from the static wide and removed all wall marks, power outlets and even one of my own little aperture MC lights that I had on the floor as an uplight. Then I masked around the subjects when I brought the shot and layed it over the existing footage. What a life saver of a technique for background cleanup on static shots.

This is such a good idea! I've been using it with camera tracking to do set extensions, but this would be way easier lol. I have been at the forefront of this stuff just like you, and I can't believe how many people are dismissing it out of fear, they're going to get left behind bad! Also, love the ending 🤣
