Pastel Painting - Landscape Demo in Pastel

Thank you for this demo! I’ve been painting along your demos for a bit more than a week now to try to get an understanding of how to layer landscapes and basically how to. I’ve been painting several pieces a day and it’s great fun. Sometimes it’s a bit too fast for me and I don’t have matching colors, but all in all I’m very happy with the outcomes. Will check out your website for more, I love the style and I think it’s a good way to go with pastels.

Mesmerizing, Marla! I do have a question. I have a mat cutter (thanks FB marketplace) and I have cut standard sized mats to use (as you do) to size my work. My question is, should I make them a bit smaller so I can cut a mat to fit a standard size frame or no mats at all (just spacers). I’m working on a painting a day and am coming up with lots of work. I can’t possibly afford to frame them all and want to make it affordable for my buyers.

Marla, love your demo's. Do you sharpen your pastels or are they just worn down to a point from using?

Le résultat est bluffant mais comme méthode, on a l'impression que ça part dans tous les sens. On s'y perd un peu à travailler sur toute la surface en même temps. Un débutant aurait dû mal à travailler comme ça.
