This is a great performance. You rarely hear this etude played with such sense of the singing qualities of the music. And the tempo is quite right, not too fast, not too slow, she just lets the music take its time.

Wow! She pulls such a tremendous sound out of the piano with such a light touch. An amazing performance!

Great playing that elegantly reveals all the richness in the texture of this etude..

Bravo Tiffany

We should not look at the surface to make conclusions. Posting the scores online doesn't mean that Chopin Competition is fair. It was beneficial if the competitor had studied with a member of the jury or had made a connection with the jury. In fact, jurors are often accused of giving high scores to their friends' students. Although some jurors were not eligible to rate their own students, they could give very low scores to other competitors who were better than their own students. Therefore, the outstanding competitors most likely could be easily eliminated.

There! At 1:09 she plays the triplet so seemlessly (listen to the middle voice the G-Ab-D)

this etude sounds like a dream, no idea why it's not played as much

I think she played better in the preliminary round than this stage, but she was still outstanding among all the  contestants. Why did the jury make such a decision? What a pity !

I don’t know why it is called “the most unknown Etude, ” it sounds really nice, especially when played by Tiffany

Many of the pianists all study with the most important teachers Dang Thai son someone here mentions may have been responsible for her not winning and that his students went away with top prizez . This is the best Ive ever heard this etude played Listen to Cherkassy, Lhevinne, Cortot, Slobodyanik others and this certainly has best recorded sound . Poon is fantastic

Dang Thai Son had huge power to influence the competition result. Three of his students won 3rd, 4th & 5th prize. Besides, exactly how many winners and finalists had made a personal connection with him in any way? Can any insider tell us the truth?

Music should not be a competitive sport. It is meant to communicate, which does most effectively.
