A cry for "Help!" at the London Roundtable, Dr. Hakim addresses the challenges, from a physician's perspective, when presented with patients with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome who are diagnosed with Craniocervical Instability. Are there different criteria that define CCI specific to the hyper mobile population? Hakim explains the difficulties: pinning down the cause of the condition, the potential overlap of symptoms, and imaging interpretation. He talks about his frustration about the discrepancies in treatment among physicians, both surgical and non-surgical.

With lackluster scientific evidence in the medical literature to determine the best treatment, patients might receive opposing prescriptions for treatment. Listen to Dr. Hakim's suggestion for guidance for all physicians addressing these complex issues.

This lecture was presented at the 2019 London Roundtable, provided in partnership with the Ehlers-Danlos Society, discussing issues including dysautonomia, connective tissue disorders, Chiari malformation and related syndromes. (2019)
