Just needs some sort of backing so your drink or plate doesn’t fly away if it get windy. Otherwise it’s a good great idea!

Looks to me although it’s was a bit hard to observe, but the chip pie made the front part sloping downward, this could cause the glasses to slide/ slip off, I have witnessed this happen before at a friend’s house.

Thus ledge will be a FAVORITE nesting place for various varmints. I was bitten by a Hobo spider who was lurking on our deck seating. (Very similar construction as this) it took me a whole year!! To heal from that spider bite. Now we have chickens to eat thise sneaky pests.
