How to Build an Easy Outdoor Table that Seats 10!

Recently we took a trip down to my parents house in Florida and one thing they have been missing on the back patio was a table big enough to seat our entire family. We needed enough seats for my family, my brothers family and my parents. Which brings us to 10 seats. I didn't have a bunch of time or the workshop to build a big fancy table so we opted to keep it simple. Even though this table only took a few hours and under $200 to build, we have already gotten a ton of enjoyment out of it and it will be a great place to gather for years to come.

Hi. I watched your video on the benchseat a couple of years ago. I made one and it was good. Then sold 1 and now I've sold many of them. I bought a couple of the plans for $5 or whatever it was and it was probably the best $5 I've spent.
I have now designed my own style of benchseat, a few other pieces and am doing well! Even bought a new motorcycle, which would never of happen without a bit of success.
Anyway, your videos have made my life better and also my neighbors. I get him to help because I'm 2 busy sometimes, so thanks heaps!

Nice, clean and simple - great design for an outdoor space (or indoors!) Super easy to follow and sped up gives you a good sense of the steps. Thanks for sharing!

Quick heads-up to folks who click on the plans. If you tap on the link for the stain it will open on the Home Depot site but will be linked to the SOLID stain rather than the semi-transparent one. Make sure you choose the SEMI-TRANSPARENT. I’m going to build this. Already used his plans for the outdoor bench some years ago and that was fun.

Thank you, it looks great. I am not very handyman but will approach this.

Nicely done! I agree about leaving some spacing between the top sections. Also, I would have put more of a round on the table top edging and rounded off those sharp corners, especially with kids running around. 👍👍😉😉

I wish I could have someone build this for me. I've been looking for the perfect outside table for my family and this is it! Just need a hole for an umbrella. I'm definitely going to buy the plan.

Hi. I enjoyed your video and printed off the purchased plans. We got the table done but we haven't turned it right side up yet. I'm concerned that the posts aren't attached to the top. Did we miss a step in the process somewhere?

I'm very new to woodworking and related projects, but I am having fun so far! I plan on building this table, and you said if you thought about it you would have left 1/4 inch gaps between the boards. I live on the beach in Florida, and though we do try to keep the patio covered with sun shades, our outdoor furniture is constantly exposed to salt air, high humidity, rains, and sun. If I wanted to leave space between the boards, what is the best way to do that?

Ok, I watched the video again and we did a couple things differently. We did not connect the top boards to each other. We also screwed everything together while it was still upside down.

HUGE FAN HERE! 👏🏽
I'm curious about whether this tabletop construction will be suitable for outdoors, full exposure? 🤔

Love, love, love this Table! Where did you get the chairs, it finishes off the table perfectly!😊

I'd be curious to know if this ends up splitting, especially being an outdoor table. With all the boards pocket screwed together, then locked to the perpendicular base, the wood in the middle won't have anywhere to expand to.

It might end up okay, but you may look into z clips for attaching the top

How much sanding did you guys do on this table and what grits did you use? Great build btw! I plan on building one this weekend. Thanks for sharing!

Amazing build. Can you share some details on the chairs as they go perfect w. the table

That looks great! What brand/color is the stain?

Excellent build, but the pocket holes are on the wrong side here. Placed on the inside of the aprons, they would end up angling towards the outer edge of the legs, significantly decreasing their holding strength.

Did you do much to flatten the top of the table? Or were you able to find boards that were already flat?

Love it🤙🏽. And it looks like an easy build. 🙏🏽🙏🏽. Did you make the chairs ?

Awesome build!

Question, does it have to be a Kreg pocket hole xl or can it be a regular 320?
