They are ALL lovely - and it's even more lovely for us to keep them in our vocabularies. It's so powerful to have these choices.

That tritone sub is so cool. The chromatic walk from the natural 2nd to the flat to the tonic has such a rich color.

So glad to see you using the thumb over the top on the C in that Cmaj7 chord. I’ve been doing that for years, always trying to ween myself off it because I thought it was “wrong.” Nice to see someone else I admire doing it.

No 3 and 4 are my favorite choices, but to know all can be even better. Beautiful anyway. Thanks so much

They are all beautiful. Being forced to pick is like having to choose your favorite beer! I think context answers the question of which one works best, and often it’s just a matter of where you are in the form. Between verses? Tritone, maybe. Setting up the bridge? Basic ii-V maybe. Dramatic decrescendo ending? Let’s try Neopolitan! (That one is gorgeous, btw. I’m going to steal your example exactly as you played it). Thanks!

Feeling the neapolitan subdominant today. :)

I liked the minor subdominant more. Not as overt as the others, more nuanced, less clichéd.

Triton sub and Neapolitan Subdominant 😃

All are bliss to my ears. But if I am forced to pick just one lol, I choose the Neapolitan subdominant. I wish I wasn't stuck where I am right now. I wish I had my Les Paul Custom Black Beauty in my hands. I love that guitar.

Out of those - the Neopolitan. But you make them all beautiful.
