Please excuse my blurry camera footage AGAIN. This video was actually filmed a few weeks ago, before some of my subscribers helped me adjust my camera settings. Expect clearer footage in the future!

I've never resurrected a dead story, but I do have a crazy novel I keep coming back to it as my writing knowledge grows.

I have the body of my novel sketched out in my mind. It's all a matter of fleshing out the details and putting it on paper, which is far easier said than done. I haven't read Bad Parts yet, but it sounds so good! I think of an episode of The Twilight Zone, my second favorite science fiction series after Star Trek, so I mean that as a compliment.

I've totally resurrected on old story! In fact, most of my current story ideas are really just re-boots of older story ideas that didn't work out. The original versions were just too flimsy, or the characters were too one dimensional, or there wasn't a good villain. I often sit on story ideas for years, before re-working them and fixing the story issues.

i did ressurect an old story that didnt work. its my favorite story now, and only worked the second time because i changed emotionally during the year or so after shelving it. the first time around, my philosophy on life was what i consider to be average one, and because of that, i was unfulfilled emotionally. coming back to it after philosophizing my way through to a place that does make me happy, the story went from being desperate attempts to educate through dialogue to giving what the presumed reader wants through what they expect by what my premise is promising, and the story is beautiful now.

I didn't necissarily resurrect an Old Project, but I did a second draft of some of my old books, and what was originally in four Books I managed to put into two, and I took aspects of the fourth book that didn't fit into the two previous books and wrote a third one with a mostly different cast.

another good advice is if you are running out of creative juices write a 300-word essay so that you don't get bored of writing the same ol characters if your story is gonna be long. doing small essays can help open your creative juices

My first story is kind of a trilogy now, I consider it my magnum opus. It sits on the shelf in my mind, but I plan to resurrect/finish it eventually. I have endings for all three stories of it, and I do often come up with new scenes or notes that I need to take on it.

Have you ever resurrected an old story you previously abandoned? Did it work better the second time? Let us know!

My current WIP novel is based on something I wrote almost 20 years ago. It has become so different from the source material that it’s hardly the same story at this point. Plot, characters, themes, all have changed drastically. Hopefully in a good way, since the original didn’t have much direction and was mostly written for fun, not really meant to be a cohesive story. I feel like I need to finally sit down and rewrite it before I can move on to fresh story ideas, as it has been haunting my brain for far too long.

I have resurrected a story. It was set to be published for an event but I couldn't get into the right head space to wrap it up so I shelved it. Years later, another opportunity arose qnd to my surprise it was much easier to write and finish that story. I was able to publish it.

Currently working on my novel and although I'm at the middle of the end, I feel like I'm dragging myself to finish. There are days when I feel like I won't finish and there are days when I feel like everything is going to work out. I feel like I'm walking a tightrope and I'm scared I'm going to fall off

A friend asked me "whatever happened to that... THING... you were writing umpteen years ago?" I resurrected the typescript from the basement--not even the silverfish could stomach it--and began rewriting a much more cogent and (IMHO) interesting and exciting yarn. Now I'm rewriting it one... more... time, and then it goes to a no-holds-barred editor.

I finished my first draft and knew one of the chapters was pure scaffolding. Not even finished sentences at one point. After Revision I deleted that chapter and 30000 more words.
Now it looks much better!
