Italy coronavirus lockdown restrictions relaxed as millions get outdoors

Italians rush into St Mark’s square in Venice after spending more than two months under strict measures introduced to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Starting this week, Italians are allowed to visit city parks for exercise, as long as they remain two metres apart and avoid large gatherings.
People can be seen exercising in a park in Bergamo, which was once the epicentre of Italy’s coronavirus outbreak.
It’s not a complete lift on restrictions but the streets are much busier than at any time during the lockdown.
Venice’s St. Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge were full of people once again
and in Naples and Rome, policemen were on guard to ensure commuters respected safety rules.
Italians are now permitted to visit relatives living in the same region
and pick up takeaway food from cafes and restaurants.
Italy is getting used to the first stage of its new normal, as they can see light at the end of the tunnel.
