I’ve had my D90 for 14 years. I recently used it for two events after it sat unused for over one year. One event was indoors where I used a Nikon SB800 flash unit and the other event was outdoors in a park setting and under a huge oak tree. The camera performed flawlessly and I was so pleased with the photos the camera generated.

I recently purchased this camera with a kit lens 18-105 and battery charger for $100. Great camera. I use it with a 70-200 2.8. Great images

I'm a semi professional and have 3 Nikons, one being a D90. I recently had one of my other o es in the shop, and the D90 was my secondary camera with a wedding job. It was more than capable with what I used it for. I've also used it for portrait work with very good results. Mine does excellent with a 50mm, f/1.8. One of the best purchases I've made for $140! It had about 22, 000 clicks on it when I bought it!

The D90 is much better camera than it has any right to be for the money. And that it works perfectly with AF-D lenses makes it even better value. It's my most recently purchased camera and also my oldest and most enjoyable camera to use with many great pro features that Nikon dropped from many later DX models. It can definitely keep up with more recent DSLRs in terms of usability and image quality. Great with a fast prime like a 35 or 50mm f/1.8.

This isthe most accurate and detailed review of the D90 that I have seen. You make a interesting point of sensor quality vs Megapixel resolution. Image quality in terms of dynamic range, tonal range and color sensitivity the D90 is nearly the equal or the equal of the D7000 per DXO measurements. The Signal noise reduction is where the D90 falls comparably short at higher ISOs. IMO for photography you would need to step up to the D7100 to get a vastly superior camera. I own the D7100 as well and it is superb at low light performance. Great review! Another example is the Canon550d which has more megapixels than the D90 but falls significantly short on other measures giving the 550d a much lower overall DXO mark!!

I somehow missed this Video before, so late comment here.

This was a ground breaking camera at the time, offering Video in a DSLR for the first time. It was a natural progression of the D70/70s/80 series of cameras. It was a camera with very zealous users, and was popular. Personally, I would go for a D300, which offered so much more, but this is a solid camera.
Take care and Happy Shooting!

Regarding the ISO button placement - if you are shooting in aperture priority mode (which I think is the proper way to shoot in like 95% of the situations), you can program the other dial to change ISO right away, on the fly, no button presses necessary.

I am devastated as my D 90s shutter went south and stuck 😢Shop wants 160 to repair it. I have to get it fixed.

Just picked up my D90. Works great with prime lenses and fixed aperture lenses.

More than capable for an amateur enthusiast like me !! - If you just want to shoot stills in decent light then it's excellent - I had one for five years and sold it along with some other Nikon gear - I went to Micro four thirds - A Panny GX8...within six months I sold it and bought another D90 and a couple of lenses. With a 35mm F1.8 DX attached you don't know it's over your shoulder most of the time...Mine was £90, fully boxed ....great bang for your buck !!

Mid 2024, I'm still using my D90. Mostly with my 80-200 f/2.8 push pull. 👍

D90 seems pretty decent, might get one if I stumble upon a affordable copy

My wife has a D80 and loves it so much she finds it hard you use any other camera I’ve shot canon all my life Notting megga expensive so I used her D80 I love the images that came out of the camera no editing very much like film so I now have the D90 for myself and love it so easy to use I’ve also purchased the 35 f1.8 G I really think canon could learn a thing or two with this lens and price on the second hand market it’s a real bargain

I made UW pics in the Red Sea with my D90 and the stuff was acceptable. My hundreds of images of my image bank was made with D90 and the result was very good. I like the camera very much but not for video. After some years the camera is still working very well.

Really a pity, that it's not possible to use with D90 the newer AF-P lenses. I believe it's just the firmware that should be modified for this. Maybe should we sign kind of petition to Nikon, to make them release updated firmware at least for their two old „landmark” models, I mean D90 and D200, allowing to use AF-P lenses? How do you think?
It's not a problem for such a big, potent company — just a question of their good will (or lack of).
