White-Tailed Spider rips off Redback Spider's leg

Two of Australia's dangerous spiders battle it out!
The Red Back Spider defeated the European Wasp. I was shocked to see who won out of the White Tail and Red Back duo.

So I think this happens naturally when the spider feels that it’s been ‘caught’ and will rather lose a leg than get killed by its predator. Pretty cool move!

Very equally matched girls here. Both away from their webs, redback established her own silk lines here prior to white tail being put in, and so was able to sense its movement and start wrapping.. and she had already subdued a yellowjacket. If the jar hadn’t been bumped, redback would’ve continued wrapping without much trouble.
I dare say even with a leg lost, she still would’ve eaten the white tail as there was no real fatal bite inflicted.

The legs can come off quite readily and they can grow them back as well

I think that was a male red back, if it was female then The white tail messed with wrong spider.
