Isometric exercise, a workout without movement, tightens muscles without changing their length.   The exercise is done in a static position, using body weight for strength and stability.

What does this have to do with blood pressure? High blood pressure strains the heart. Healthy levels are below 120/80 mm Hg. High levels are 140/90 mm Hg or more.

One study showed isometric exercise significantly reduces blood pressure. The findings indicate isometric exercise led to the most significant reductions in systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Isometric exercise is an excellent addition to your cardiovascular and strength training routines.
