BAD NEWS for SELLERS. SXS UTV sales are COLLAPSING.

UTV SXS sales have been declining over the last couple of months and we have not hit bottom yet. Is it time to buy and upgrade or maybe add something to your quiver? I dont think we've hit bottom yet but there are quite a few people who bought high that are now selling low.

Now that inventory and production are catching up, those temporary buyers need to unload the stop gap cars they bought and others who entered the market while they had free time are finding the use not being quite as easy now that theyve returned to work.

One mans loss is another mans gain they say. What do you think is going to happen? Have the economic winds changed?

Considering they've gone up to well above $40, 000 for some of these SXS I am not surprised people have stopped buying them.

Surprised it hasn't happened sooner. They cost more than actual 4x4s at this point.

What everyone is noticing in the UTV market is a microcosm of what is currently happening in the housing market and automotive & motorcycle markets. It is more than just a market correction. It is this ridiculously high inflation for consumer goods, energy, coupled with the a Recession. It's a perfect storm. It's not going to get better any time soon. Bottom line: people have begun to feel a real squeeze on their budgets and they have to make hard choices among these three things: Food, fuel, rent. These UTV and outdoor luxury toys will be the first to go. If your income is good now, then this is the time to tighten down the hatches and NOT upgrade or buy something else or something new, unless you have the cash laying around. Even then, best to save it, because you will never know what is around the corner, whether it's Christmas or hard times! You will see dealers, etc. going out of business, more people out of work, and more used outdoor luxury toys on sale.

The reason prices are so high is because people that can’t afford them keep taking out loans for them. Once the “flex” of having one is gone prices will go down. Everyone and their mom has one now, it’s only a matter of time when everyone gets rid of them and there’s a flood of barely used SxSs on the market

Best thing that could happen is the used market take a dump, quickly followed by the new market falling on its face for a couple of years. I realize EVERYTHING has gone up, but for what we get with any of these SxS machines the prices are just insane. That might force manufacturers to at least produce some better quality, more realistically priced offerings. Until then, they'll keep pumping out the same stuff (looking at you, Polaris) as quick as they can and keep running to the bank with high profit margins.

I hope everyone remembers which dealers took care of customers and which ones took advantage.

It has been strange to be a motorcyclist and watching this whole thing from the outside. I was riding dirt bikes when the first three wheelers came around. Then the ATVs, then the UTVs, then the UTVs got bigger and bigger. Some of them are massive now. I have also been a water skier that has watched the PWC market evolve. Same deal there. The humble Jet Ski has turned into things the are starting to rival the size of my ski boat. I recently bought a 54" slalom trick ski on a lark. That thing is kind of fun. But I think I will always do my off road on a dedicated dirt bike and my watersports will just be me and a ski, or just my feet.

I’m in a parts department and we went from multiple doing giant accessory builds on new machines to people just trying to fix up what they have. It’s definitely going to change. Where it lands, I’m not sure, but it’s starting to sway

Nobody wants to spend the ABSURD amount of money Polaris & Can-Am are asking for these UTV’s. It’s seriously insane

I think alot of people with broken utvs saw me in my free 4runner drive by them in moab.
I don't believe that's the sole reason sales have dropped, but definitely contributed.
Oh and I drove the freerunner home on the interstate after bashing it for 4 days.

The funnest machines with 4 tires are ATV's 4 wheelers...they're a lot faster more maneuverable, stop faster, weigh less for the hp, the fun factor isn't even comparable, they have 2 to 3 seater models (CanAm), better gas mileage, way easier to trailer, and a lot more benefits. And a fraction of the price to buy and maintain than a POS UTV. The only 2 ITV's worth having is the top of the line 2 seater highest hp and all the options and that will run around $40, 000... and remember these things aren't mean to drive 100, 000 miles. Not even close. They wear out fast! The only other utv worth having is CanAm Fully Enclosed one wit heat air heated steering wheel and seats etc now that is worth it, but the motor in that one is'nt fast at all. The spring set up is for slow utility type riding low speed, so fun factor is much lower than high HP... I see them and people aren't having the fun they have on ATV's and especially motorcycles. Motorcycles blow them both out of the water when it comes to fun. Anyway that's my rant but what do I know.

I was the largest Polaris dealer in the nation Abernathy s Union City Tn for 65 years . I’m telling you the bottom is dropping out of all of them especially RZRs . The Utility sxs will hold their value better . All the money people have put into those sport SXS is gonna be bad . All the after market extended warranties customers bought gap and other gimmicks dealers sold at purchase time is gonna be huge losses for banks and financial company’s . Financial company’s are already backing off on money to public . The end is near on all toys as times continue to get worse.

I love the last three years. We have been able to buy machines that are 4 or 5 years old with less them 300 miles on them for one third the cost of new.people buy these new and think they are going to use them lot but after two or three trips up north and they end up sitting in the garage taking up the wife's parking spot.its going to get batter on the used market for people that can pay cash

its all going down. The ford dealer offered me 17k for my 13 EcoBoost with $7500 worth of tree branch scratches down the passenger side 160k miles. that was in January. asked again last week yea $13.5k (52, 995 new in 13). and as a ford and gm part dealer good luck on big and expensive parts. fuel tank 55 gallon back ordered, no one in Wisco has one (per dealer network), and the list price is $2800 for a tin box. worst part is campers were built like crap because of the so called covid because of unskilled labor (got a heart beat your hired). and people that got money thought camping and atving, boating, etc. thought it was cheap. well its not. $300 in fuel $150 for the site for 2 nights plus $250 for food. beer games sh** you always buy....opps forgot the extra shitter pipe. gotta hit the walmart bam $100 for that and ammo. yea its a $800 weekend. go to door county and spend $50 on 25 lbs of apples. not to mention loan on the rec vehicle insurance, opps I swamped my atv or I blew a turbo towing 12k when my truck is rated for 10k. just saying I've seen a lot of idiots since the (SARS) china bat in the dirty market happened. but we all know why it happened.

Just for fun I went on Can-Am's website and customised the most expensive Maverick Turbo X3 starting at $43, 000 here in Canada. I picked ALL of the fanciest, most expensive accessories I could find and bumped the price to over $106, 000 before freight, surcharges, PDI and taxes. Came to $120, 000, lol!
