I know this isn’t an AU falcon video but Au is the chemical symbol for gold so i think that’s an important note when discussing that vehicle

Having started my apprenticeship at an MG dealer, before realising being a mechanic sucked, i’ve seen way too many saic cars, mostly LDVs all with sub 10, 000km, and all falling apart. I’ve seen brand new ldvs get delivered, only to be driven around the block by a customer and come back with oil in the coolant overflow. it’s honestly amazing

Fucken hilarious that SAIC thought a British brand like MG would be a badge that implied reliability too lmao, I don't think I've ever seen a British-made car last more than 50k kms before a major problem that immobilises the thing for two months occurs. Great vid again mate

Mate as a Chinese your videos are way more honest than my hometown's dealer. And if i remember that all Chinese in Sydney are all BM or BENZ or Italiano. Greetings from Canada!!!!(peace and love from my shitbox 98 corolla)

why did i know this would end with a recommendation of 'just buy a trusty AU!'

As an MG technician i can completley agree with all of this

There is a cattle station near ours that got bought out by the Chinese, first thing the new owners did was get rid of all the cheap chinese branded heavy machinery and equipment that the previous owner had bought and replaced them all with Caterpillars and Volvos.
Even the Chinese know there stuff is crap lol

MG's were never meant to be a family hatchback. The proper original ones were about being sports cars. This is kinda like removing the muscle car recipe from the Commodore or Falcon and selling them as cheap 4 cylinder economy car.

The permanent fix to making the MG more reliable is to buy an AU Falcon, attach a cable from the front of the MG to the back of the AU Falcon and then have the AU Falcon tow the MG

I've driven these cars at work and the poor throttle response combined with the immense turbo lag means that you can plant your foot to the floor and the car will just roll about 1 or 2 metres before it finally sets off about 4 seconds later im surprised people haven't died driving these things as you simply can't pull onto a roundabout or out of a giveaway section like you would in a normal car cus the thing just have you stranded in the middle of the road and you just have to hope the person coming the other way doesn't T-bone you.

i was actually looking at buying a New MG because it does look good and it's affordable,
but then i quickly turned the other way and ran when i found out that the MG's use the Holden Cruze engine!

it seems like the soul of the British Leyland may still linger on in MG brand lol

The thing is, when you hop into a Chinese MG (I had an HS as rental recently) it's actually pretty nice. The materials used feel good, there's a big screen, and you get a sense of quality. But on a fundamental level the stuff that actually matters hasn't changed. The sound system was pretty bad, it was slow, it wasn't that efficient (especially not for a 1.5L), the bright red "super sport" button on the steering wheel looked pretty nice but actually being in super sport mode changed fuck-all. The seats looked pretty nice, but they were a bit too stiff. The traction control system wasn't even advanced enough to apply the brake to the slipping wheel when driving up at gravel hill. That's shit that was included with the fucking Holden Adventra. Did I mention that it's not even AWD?

I love how it always ends in “buy an au falcon”

I've had a few great wall wagons. all under 2k with low kms. And I have no problem at all driving it on the waterline at the beach. Redline every gear change and just hosing the interior out. Very guilt free mota car. brings a smile to drive something with hate and not feel bad.

I used to work for a dealership selling parts for these turds, felt sorry for the customers because mostly everything took anywhere from 6+ months to come from China.

I tried to convince my old boss at dominos to not buy 4 of these brand new as company cars, he still bought them and low and behold not even 2 weeks into the job all 4 are fucked

Partially due to p platers thrashing the dogs but also they are just dogshit in quality, he swapped 2 2013 toyota yaris's and a hyundai getz lol
