'No, I’m Singaporean': TikTok CEO Chew Shou Zi responds to US Senator’s questions about China ties

TikTok's Singaporean CEO Chew Shou Zi was grilled about his ties with China during a Congress session about the dangers children face on social media platforms on Wednesday (Jan 31). A US senator repeatedly asked Mr Chew if he had ever been a member of the Chinese Communist Party, to which he responded, "Senator, I'm Singaporean. No."

Few facts for Harvard's graduates:
1) Dual citizenship is not allowed in Singapore. If you are becoming a US or China citizen, you would be asked to surrender SG citizenship.
2) Only Chinese citizens are eligible to apply for CCP.
3) Foreigners can not serve in military in Singapore.
