3 Ways to Remove North Facing Switches Interference on Mechanical Keyboards

3 easy solutions to fix north facing switches interference with cherry profile keycaps on mechanical keyboards.

Switching PCB is obviously the best solution but if you can't do it, or want to use a specific switch that doesn't have a peaking stem, adding washers will fix north facing interference on any mechanical keyboard so you can use your favorite cherry profile keycaps on it.

Washers are not sold anymore by mechanical keyboards stores but you can use really small o-rings instead. The size I use is 4mm ID x 0.5mm CS.

South Facing PCB : YD60MQ from Banggood
(It is basically a DZ60 clone, works the same for a cheaper price)

Switches with peaking stem : Feker Holy Pandas from Banggood
(You can also use Drop Holy Pandas, they also have a peaking stem)

Hey, really great video. In your opinion, if you had the option between OD5*ID4*CS0.5MM or this one OD5.2*ID4*0.6MM o-rings (both NBR70) which one would you go for?

Thx for the vid. I've peeled the rubber covering of my old table tennis blade and cut the raised rubber points off it and squeezed the rubber points into the center of the keycaps' stem. Well the annoying sounds faded but the keys wabbled. gotta buy some o-rings

Have you tried other thickness other than 0.5mm? Would 0.4 or 0.3 be better for maintaining a more stock feel?

What dimensions should I purchase if I need O-rings for the akko jelly blacks? I think because it has a anti-dust stem I should use 0.6 CS but what should I use for the thickness? 4mm?

since durock poms and nk creams have longer stems, would there be no interference with cherry profile keycaps?

If ive changed my pcb to south facing and use it for my cherry profile keycap and decided to change keycap and use xda, dsa or sa in my south facing switches, will it have the same interference like with the north facing switch with cherry profile keycap? Im just curious on what compatibility does south facing keycap has on the other keycap profiles.

Hello. Can I just say the dimensions for the orings are really helpful.
I double checked with my caliper and the stems are indeed 4mm wide
I just ordered orings from China
There is another option of getting ID 3.5mm / OD 4.5mm and I'm thinking of just stretching that to fit. Good idea?
