Today I walked through a section of town I d never been before . I stumbled onto remnants of the Old City Wall . Really off the beaten path . Met some of the nicest people warm welcoming people . This shows a good example of how some people live here that you dont normally see.

I’ve donated money to school in Chiang Mai to buy uniforms. I also gave some money to Thai people, I’ve met over the years to help buy food during COVID. $25 to $40 a few times. If they “scammed” me out of a few hundred, no big deal. But I like to think they were really struggling and needed money for food.

LIfe in Thailand can be backwards for most Westerners: When it comes to love we invest with our hearts and not our brain. In Thailand everything is business: invest with caution, especially when dealing with with women.

A few years ago my friend took me to a lovely little restaurant out in the sticks on the way to Bon Chang. The guy who owned it was an Englishman from my home town. He was about 60 but looked much older as he was painfully thin and had very badly ulcerated legs.
He introduced us to his wife who looked in her late 20s and was absolutely stunning. After the meal I said to my friend it looks like she is poisoning him.
We visited the same restaurant about six months later and yes, he had died and she introduced us to her new young handsome Scandinavian boyfriend.
