Harry and Hermione, being both the only child of their families, were like sibling each other didn't have.

You can see the expression on Ron's face is like he's just been killed inside.

Ron's expression says it all...deep sadness...this should of been a group hug scene since they both are his best friends.

Hermione and Ron have different types of friendship with Harry, and it is on full display here. Ron sees Harry as another brother, as family, and having just lost Fred, he doesn't hug Harry because if he does he'll lose it, and he knows it is up to him to hold it together now. It's ironic, during much of the final battle, it is Ron thinking things through. Hermione and Harry have the connection of both being raised by muggles, of both being gifted albeit in different ways in their generation, and for Hermione has never voluntarily left Harry, where as Ron at times has out of confusion, anger, etc. Hermione here is acting more on emotion, she did during most of the final battle.

Notice how, from 00:43, while Hermione goes to hug Harry, Ron takes few steps over for hug him too.
But then, he stops.
Because he knows that, if he hugs Harry, he surely wouldn't have let him go anymore and would have started to crumble in tears too.

I love this scene because it shows both Hermione and Ron's reactions in such a brilliant way: Hermione is like Harry's sister, they share a very deep bond and that is clear from how she immediately proposes to go with him. And Ron loves Harry too. He's always been like a brother to him. And he realizes that if he goes to Harry, if he takes him into his arms, he wouldn't be able to endure it. Mind that Ron has already lost a brother here...

God, I love this scene.

In the book Harry hides under the invisibility cloak and goes to the forest without saying goodbye to anyone because he knows they'll try to stop him. I believe all he does is he tells Neville to kill Voldemort's snake. While he's under the cloak he very nearly says goodbye to Ginny but he stops himself.

Hermione is more emotional. The 'i'll go with you" also means "i'll die for you." Ron, matured so much during the final battle, he knew there'd be no fighting with Harry. He knew Harry needs to do it alone. He knows that Harry wants him to take care of Hermione. Now, I am crying becaise of this explanation. Still gets me every time.

To all the people who hates Ron for not hugging Harry. Guys, we can see he is slowly and painfully breaking inside because of the fear of losing another brother. He didn't hug Harry because he knew he will be unable to let him go. So in my opinion his reaction is even sadder than Hermione's.

Harry and Hermione understand each other the best. Hermione hasn't told him to stay, instead she offered herself to go with him. They're just like brother and sister, carrying & have that courage to defend one another. She knew he has to do that and yet does nothing bc it will make the situation even worse. She truly loves Harry with all of her heart. I don't say she loves him more than Ron, but she defineatly loves them both different ways.

This scene is so beautiful.

On my life Harry, Hermione and Ron were the ultimate friendship goals and definition of it.

0:52 Ron and Harry are a lot closer than shown in the movies but this particular moment made me cry cuz somehow it brought back lots of memories like when they introduced themselves on their first train ride to Hogwarts, then became best friends, went on many adventures together and it's like everything they went through together is all condensed into this little eye contact, like a distant dream. They grew up together and basically like brothers, and during this point, in their minds, it was the last they would see each other. This scene breaks my heart every time. 💔

"I think I've known for a while, I think you have too."

Meanwhile, Ron is like I don't know squat.

This scene was kinda off characters for me. In the book, Harry uses the cloak, because he knows that if Ron and Hermione would see him, they would never let him go. Hermione would scream, protest, cry, deny. And Ron would simply use force or magic to prevent him from going. And if he had seen them, he wouldn't have the strength to go anymore.
In the book Harry sees Ginny under the cloak and battles with himself to not reach out to her. Then he talks to Neville and asks him to kill Nagini. ("we're all going to fight again Harry you know that?" "Yes, I..." Harry's voice broke). Much more relevant in my opinion. This was too Hollywood-esque. But then again, Ginny's character was completely butchered in the movies so...

0:43 Hermione is crying and we all see it, but do any of us realise that Ron's silently crying at 0:53 - 0:57

It makes me cry when she says I ‘ll go with you . Because we can see the love they have for each other since they were child. I don’t see the woman but the child talking .
