There is actually a couple of books out there, one is called "The Fate of Nations", where people reviewed a number of societies.
3 major contributors to their downfall; men and women doing similar or the same work (i.e. men are less masculine and women are less feminine). Lowered birthrates. And extreme decadence.

Here in Galicia we have an aphorism that fits like a glove and defines what we´re living nowadays: "when the devil is not busy, he kills flies with its tail". And Humanity is dying of success. When you lose track of the fact that present day´s world is not "natural", but a human recreational park created by thousands of years of monstruous work in order to domesticate Nature, you start focusing on the pettiest problems, because you stopped having real ones.

1. Suffering makes men tough. Because it weeds out the weak ones. It also makes them desirable for women.

2. Suffering also makes women support more, their male lovers, their children, other women, the community.

3. Take suffering out of the equation and then we get what we get now, meaninglessness.

4. Do you know why these are called first world problems? Because usually people in the third world countries are suffering, they have their meaning in helping their family and friends survive.

5. The sweet spot in the USA and most 1st world countries is $75k/yr. Where one is barely making enough to survive, feed the family, abd finally after working for at least 15 yrs can afford 1 2week vacation.

6. But we've broken up the family, put men and women against each other, then added lots of confusion in children and taken them away from their families. Now what? Now, who does a man survive and strive for?
