What the Survivors Heard When the Titanic Was Sinking

Once a famous giant, the largest ship of that time – now two grand pieces lying on the ocean bottom about 2,000 feet apart, torn by the catastrophic collision and time itself. What do you think, could any of about 700 people that had survived the sinking of the Titanic hear it hit the ocean bottom? Sound most likely wouldn't have traveled from water to air. We can't hear that well in water because our bodies are not designed to hear in such environments. Let's try to solve more Titani mysteries based on the data we have.

There were the sounds as the air filled stern was collapsing in on itself as it descended to the bottom of the ocean floor, according to several accounts. And it was a moonless night.

It was a cloudless, moonless night during the sinking of the titanic. if there was a full moon, they would have seen the Iceberg.

It's really hard to imagine the ship sitting down there in the condition it was in when it sank. We've only seen the Titanic severely deteriorated and covered in rusticles but she was obviously in pristine shape when she hit the ocean floor and for me, thats hard to picture. I guess you'd say 2:10 is basically what she looked like sitting there (practically brand new, fresh paint, fresh tile, wood, etc) before she eventually began to rot away for decades before we finally found her.

I have a newspaper from the Boston globe from April 16, 1912 with Miss Dorothy Gibsons name on it under “first Cabin survivors”
Just found the newspaper in my aunts old stuff which is what brought me to this video. Pretty wild

I just can't imagine the fear and dread that the people felt, knowing that they were not going to survive. How horrible.

1. The titanic sank on a moonless night, meaning there was no full moon obviously, the ocean was also as smooth as glass that night, making the whole tide thing debunked as well

2. The ship disappeared at 2:20AM, not 1:45:AM

3. Binoculars would not have helped the lookouts as it was too dark to see the iceberg from any distance until it was too late especially with the cold water mirage effect

4. No one at the time believed the ship to be unsinkable, that was ironically attributed to Titanic after the fact

Side note, I love how you imply that Violet Jessop boarded Britannic and it just automatically started sinking. These are the few inaccuracies I noticed here, which means your videos on Titanic are definitely improving

Too late to interview anybody who lived to tell the tale, because I don’t think any survivors would have survived for that long.

I don’t know how I would feel about someone auctioning off something so personal of mine like a letter. I know they‘ve been gone for some years now, but still. Something about that feels so wrong.

RMS Titanic was most decidedly not made of wrought Iron. She was built of steel. Although both start out as iron (Fe) ore, they turn out quite different.

No you could not have hear it hit the bottom of the ocean. It would be too far down for you to hear it. The Titanic sank on a moonless night having binoculars would not have helped at all. You can not look into darkness with binoculars and see something . The Violin was not found on the bottom of the ocean in the wreck. The owner put his life vest on and attached the violin to his life jacket, when his body was found they found his violin with him still attached to the life jacket.

Bright Side: talks about there being a moon in the sky on the night Titanic sinks

Reality: there was no moon, it was a moonless night

The ship did not go under water at 1:45am...It sank around 2:20am.

7;43... "the iceberg had dwindled down to 1.5 tons" (3, 000 pounds).. No way. That's the weight of a small car.

One of two largest vessels in the world at the time. Olympic was older, and lasted the longest, of the 3 sisters.

I believe the actual weight of the iceberg was 1.5 million ton. If it were only 1.5 ton, the Titanic wreck probably wouldn't have happened, cause it would be such a small piece of ice compared with the ship.

4:05 that’s right the movie called “Saved from the Titanic” only exists in our memories like Jack Dawson the person who died of hypothermia and from the James Cameron movie
