Charlie-chat meets his little human brother for the first time. He's really unsure about it.

All of our cats -- none of whom are particularly friendly to people in general or tolerant of anything but calm and gentleness -- adored our kids, even as babies or grabby toddlers. They even patiently allowed a fair amount of grabbing and pulling, something they'd never allow from anyone else. I'm not sure if they know we're very protective of our offspring or if they can tell the kids are ours and assume they'll be awesome with laps and pets one day. (Actually, probably the latter. The cats could just walk away more than they do.)

I remember, vaguely, that when I was a baby I used to follow my cat around all the time. Wherever he went, I went. I used to pull his tail when he was going too fast for my crawling pace, and he just let me grab him and slowed down before continuing on at a slower pace. I don't remember much about those times but apparently we spent more time together than I did with my parents
