Though I have a coach I am only able to go to my gym about 2 times a week due to the driving distance and my age(14) I try to train at home a fair bit, I really appreciate what people like you do to help people in a similar situation

How are you so honest and kind? You are a coach yourself who has amazing paid content, yet you choose to tell the truth and encourage people to get strong. Hats off, sir.

As the old saying goes, if you can't do it slow, why do it fast.

At 26 I’m only starting to get into martial arts after becoming obsessed with watching Muay Thai but due to working night shift can’t join a gym (classes always during work hours) so I bought a Muay Thai bag and have been following your workout sessions that you put up during the pandemic

Thank you so much for covering this topic Gabriel, even tho I have an awesome coach I still do a lot of my work on technique and general workouts at home as well and I do record myself a lot when I train as well. This video was very helpful!!! 🥊

Hey Gabe I’m a small YouTuber for the striking arts, and I made a YouTube video a few weeks back where I said basically the two same main tips.
Obsess over critiquing your own footage, and try to make every round have a purpose, and watch the best fighters for inspiration on certain techniques. It’s very reassuring to hear a world champion like yourself give the same training priorities and watching this got me excited 😀🫡

While I’m just a practitioner, I haven’t had a coach for years. I find that doing what you said about being obsessive with technique when shadow boxing or hitting the bag has helped me improve tremendously. That and really being as present in sparring as possible meaning I’m analyzing what my partners are giving me trying to figure out how to capitalize or neutralize there tactics.

GREAT i have been a coach/ trainer in multiple sports, and currently am without one. Yes, you can do without one under certain circumstances, but i would say that most people, from novice to pro will need guidance and direction. Anyone training to get better needs to be a 'self-coach' as a habit.

Congratulations on the 300k, champ! :-)

There's a personal trainer that I work with in small group training and people have asked "you have certifications in this stuff, you _are_ a trainer, why do you need one?"
Simple, I can't coach myself. While I can watch video afterward, to see what needs improvement, that doesn't help in the moment.
Watching everything I do in the mirror while I do it isn't a great strategy either, as watching out for what you need to fix distracts you from doing the thing and *feeling* what you need to fix. The same is true with martial arts/combat sports.

Hmmm, never heard about Fighters needing a coach just to spar. But that explains why some people are completely clueless during a match and will do absolutely nothing besides circle until their coach shouts instructions.

Thai Gym sparring nealy every Fighters do it alone Coaches look only if it gets to hard
Work on you week point more than on your favourite combinations help each other and ask your Trainer .
Discipline self to the basics....repeating is the only key for getting better.

Hi Gabriel, thanks for the videos! I have a question - how is it correct for a kickboxer to train with weights, for some muscle and strength?

I done this for a year cause money issues, it’s definitely doable but realy hard only using one brain to schedule all your recovery work, workouts then strength and conditioning every day and that’s not including meal prepping
I found it too much for one single person to load, you need to hire pros in those specific fields so they can adjust on the fly with professional expertise

Hi Gabriel. Big fan of the channel. Have you heard of the ecological approach? I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.

Gabriel do you feel you would have benefited from having a wrestling/additional striking coach for your MMA fights in addition to your brother and your Jiu Jitsu coach?

Sorry if you elaborate later by may I ask why you don’t have a coach?
