Nearly 2,500 Rohingya refugees risked their lives last year by taking dangerous boat journeys.
They're looking for safety, and better living conditions after years of systematic discrimination and persecution.
Rights groups are warning - thousands more could take such journeys hoping to reach countries mainly in Southeast Asia.
81 Rohingya who had been stranded in the Andaman sea for nearly two weeks - were rescued by the Indian coastguard on Friday.
Eight people died and many fell ill-- suffering severe dehydration as they ran out of food and water.

When Myanmar government started genocide in Rohingya no country raise there voice except Bangladesh and Turkey. When myanmar army take the power every country raised there voice now..shame..

In 2011 India rescued hundreds of Rohingya refugees after Thai Navy kept them in an isolated place for five days for illegally entering Thai waters.
Then Thai naval officers towed them out to sea and left them adrift in the engine-less boat and shot several Rohingya refugees.Their boat drifted for several days in the sea without any food and water before they arrived at the Indian territorial waters.

Bangladesh is a poor country that can hardly take care of its own people yet they gave the rohingya a new home. They left Myanmar for a reason and that should be the focus of the media

Myanmar are ex-colony of UK, Rohingya allied with UK in WW2, so UK should take them as citizens.

The problem is the human rights law. It is encouraging more refugees. Let individual countries deal with their own problems. It is so obvious no other countries want to get involved with a problem created by the British when they gave independence to all those countries. Maybe UK should take them.

Al Jazeera you don't talk much abt human rights. Go and rescue them at bring back to Qatar if you really concerned about them. See what these Rohingyas have done to Malaysia for being so kind hearted to them.

Rohingyas have their homeland. This is Myanmar! They should go back to their homeland. The International community has the responsibility the lives of Rohingyas in their homeland to protect. This is not the responsibility of india or bangladesh or others. Myanmar people can not erase a nation. They must take them back and take care of their people.
