Whoa wait a second. That kind of kick exists in some silat schools. Usually its the scissors kick, but there is one school I know of that uses that low kick. The logic around the matter is that clothes can hinder high kicks and not everyone is able to do high kicks so its all low to the knees. Except that its only taught to be used from behind the opponent while grappling from standing, which is a hard position to achieve, but Ive had them while sparring

Very interesting: a similar technique can be found in shaolin shi ba shou form #1 (demostrated on youtube by monk shi deyang) near the end of the form. After the right oblique kick (which, by the way, is very common in kung fu) the practitioner jumps while extending the left arm towards the opponent and then punches to the with the right arm while returning to the ground (or as soon as he touches the ground). The left elbow is pointed outward with the hand relaxed below the clavicle (probably to block a possible strike, should the opponent dodge AND to give more power to the right punch, with the backward movement of the left arm) [9:39 of the main video you will find on youtube, but please mind that every time he repeats the form he does something a bit different]

Good combo but i prefer doing the front kick to superman punch or long straight knee to super man punch
