Unfortunately you are correct; we do need mirrors that counteract bright lights because

-car lights are too bright nowadays
-they’re mis-aligned half the time and no one checks headlight alignment at inspection anymore
-people just seem to not care about leaving their brights on 100% of the time anymore. I even see it during the day now.
