As a Texan…my biggest question is why did we allow a company from California to come search the lake? The less people and things we have from California… the better. I really love this channel. It has quickly become one of my favorite.

You don't have all the details of the story. There was a survivor of the attack who drew a map on his death bed. Also there was a wealthy oil man who spent a lot of time and money searching for the treasure and he found Spanish armor and weapons as well. Lastly, there is Atascocita and Old Atascocita Road which passes through Humble by the lake and was a very old and frequently used trail.

Galveston bay is massive, and very wooded on the eastern side even today. Lafitte probably wouldn’t have known they were there at all.
